Griseldis Hofer-Mitterer was born in Landeck, near the border to Switzerland. After studying at the Vienna art academy she developed a highly individual and distinct style that made her one of the leading artists in Austria. When the Tyrolean mountains became to narrow in 1995, Griseldis and her husband, the playwright Felix Mitterer, moved to Co.Cork, Ireland, where they now live.
